Chinese construction machinery industry shows strong growth in May

In May, the construction machinery industry saw a rebound. Domestic sales of excavators reached about 8,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 29.2%.

From the excavator and loader monthly sales data performance, the construction machinery industry presents a domestic demand pressure and external demand improvement situation.

Major excavator manufacturers sold a total of 18,000 units in May, up by 6.04% year-on-year. Domestic sales were 8,500 units, up by 29.2%, while exports were 9,300 units, down by 8.92%. Loader sales reached 9,800 units, up by 8.36% year-on-year. Domestic sales were 5,200 units, up by 14.3%, and exports were 4,700 units, up by 2.4%.

Thanks to global expansion and brand influence, Chinese companies’ overseas sales have continued to grow. In the second half of the year, with rising domestic infrastructure investment and equipment renewal demand, domestic sales of construction machinery are expected to continue to grow.
