China's excavator sales exceed 126,000 units in Jan-May 2026

China’s construction machinery market is sustaining strong momentum in the first five months of 2026, driven by recovering domestic demand and steady overseas expansion, particularly in new-energy equipment segments.

According to the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA), 126,875 excavators were sold from January to May 2026, up 24.7% year-on-year, while loader sales reached 67,162 units, a 27.3% increase. Both domestic and export volumes posted double-digit growth across the two core product categories.

New-energy machinery continues to outpace the broader market:
Electric loaders sold 20,819 units in the period (+90.9% YoY), with exports of 1,232 units,  a 208% increase compared to the same period last year.

Demand for intelligent and electrified equipment is accelerating from both domestic infrastructure projects and Belt & Road export markets.

CCMA forecasts that full-year 2026 industry revenue and trade exports will maintain stable growth, with significantly higher penetration of electric construction machinery. Leading Chinese OEMs are prioritizing high-end, smart, and green product development to meet evolving global standards.
