Domestic excavator sales in China grow in Jun y-o-y
China’s domestic excavator sales in June 2024 increased by 25.6% year-on-year. Total sales were about 17,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 5.31%. Export sales were 8,900 units, a year-on-year decrease of 7.51%.
A total of 103,000 excavators were sold in the first half of 2024, a year-on-year decrease of 5.15%. Domestic sales were 53,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 4.66%.Export sales were nearly 50,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 13.8%.
In June, 11,000 loaders were sold, a year-on-year increase of 26.2%. Domestic market sales were 5,300 units, a year-on-year increase of 22.6%. Export sales were 5,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 29.8%.
In June, 16 electric excavators were sold, a month-on-month increase of 128.57%. Electric loader sales were 1,600 units, a month-on-month increase of 25.6%, accounting for 14.55% of total loader sales.
In May, the operating hours of Komatsu excavators in China were 101.1 hours, a year-on-year increase of 1%. Meanwhile, the national operating rate of construction machinery was 56.94%, with some regions exceeding 70%.
The export growth rate declined in the first half of the year but is expected to turn positive in the second half. From January to May 2024, the import and export trade volume of construction machinery was US$22.292 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.06%. Among them, the export volume was US$21.193 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.13%.
