China's construction machinery industry recovers in Jan-Aug 2025: Excavator sales up 17.2% driven by domestic and overseas demand

According to data from the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA) and the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the country’s construction machinery industry witnessed a sales growth in 2025, driven by both domestic and overseas demand. However, it is noteworthy that there is a short-term discrepancy between operation data and sales performance. Details are as follows:​

1. Excavators​
Jan-Aug Cumulative Sales: A total of 154,200 excavators were sold, representing a 17.2% year-on-year (YoY) increase. Among these, domestic sales reached 80,600 units (+21.5% YoY), while exports stood at 73,600 units (+12.8% YoY).​

August Monthly Sales: 16,500 excavators were sold in August alone, up 12.8% YoY. Specifically, domestic sales rose by 14.8% YoY to 7,685 units, and exports increased by 11.1% YoY to 8,838 units. Additionally, 31 electric excavators were sold in the month.​

2. Loaders​
Jan-Aug Cumulative Sales: A total of 83,200 loaders were sold, achieving a 12.9% YoY growth. Domestic sales accounted for 44,900 units (+20.2% YoY), and exports amounted to 38,264 units (+5.3% YoY).​

August Monthly Sales: Monthly sales of loaders hit 9,440 units in August, up 13.3% YoY. Domestic sales grew by 18.3% YoY to 4,774 units, and exports increased by 8.69% YoY to 4,666 units. Notably, 2,477 electric loaders were sold in August.​
